Thank you for all the feedback on the new-style Newsletter. We’ve had lots of positive comments so hopefully we’re doing it right!

The showers and warmer than usual weather are continuing – we’ve already seen both broad beans and sugar snap peas emerging which is really quick and the garlic is looking strong and tall.

During the showers we’ve finished sowing both red and white onions – the cabbage and tenderstem has germinated well and we’ll be sowing a tray of each of these regularly during the winter to ensure succession next year.

In the tunnels we’ve continued clearance, which takes much longer than we think. There’s plenty of salad growing there to carry us through the winter.

Christmas orders are coming in, please do remember to place yours as soon as possible to ensure you get what you want, and it helps us as well.

We’ll be having more pork and sausages on 2nd December – please order early to avoid disappointment.

Thank you for your support. Team Bothen Hill

It’s definitely been a week for dodging the showers to try and stay dry; however still relatively warm for the time of year.

Out in the fields, Chip has managed to work up some ground which isn’t too wet and Steph and Tanya have sown both broad beans and sugar snap peas to over winter. Chip’s drilled some carrots outside and is planning on drilling some in the tunnels if we have sufficient room.

In the tunnel we’ve started on sowing onion seeds, both red and white into modules; whilst it’s early it will give them a good start when they are planted out next year. In addition we’ve sown both tenderstem and cabbage which have both germinated well. In due course these will be planted out in the tunnels so that we have an early crop of both.

We’ll be having more pork and sausages on 2nd December – please order early to avoid disappointment.
